The Perfect Opt-in List Management Solution
It’s simple to blow a lot of money looking for a quality mailing list management system. I spent hundreds before finding the perfect solution. Every net marketer needs a list (or several lists) of opt-in contacts. This list might be a newsletter, a discussion group, or just a few hundred people who have visited your site and requested to receive updates and bulletins about your product or service. Your mailing list will be one of your most powerful assets, in that it will be the primary force behind your follow-up, or back-end, sales campaigns.
There are many resources available for the purpose of managing your mailing list(s). Sadly, the overwhelming majority of these tools are over-priced, and inefficient.
List management tools can be divided into two basic categories; third party services and server side utilities. A third celebration service is a membership site that charges a monthly fee for the use of their mailing software. A server side utility is a script you install and run on your own domain. Both types of mailing list resources have their merit.
I tend to like the third party option for managing my primary list. The main reason for this is the fact that by using a reliable third party service provider, I am not using my own server resources for the purpose of storing data and sending email. Also, when using a third party provider, there is less worry about the spam factor, since the service provider has all double opt-in records, and will be able to rectify any false spam complaints in short order. Overall, going with a web based service for your primary list management needs involves far fewer headaches.
Unfortunately, finding a satisfactory service provider isn’t as easy as I would like it to be. A few of the more common problems I’ve encountered while testing web based list management tools include:
• Undelivered emails
• Too much down time
• Unreasonable pricing
• Lack of desired features
It’s not difficult to blow a few hundred dollars shopping around from service to service. At one point, I actually became quite jaded, and had decided to accept the apparent fact that web based list management services were simply unable to live up to my expectations.
Then I found a program called Email Aces. The great thing about this service is these guys are programmers. They’ve built a reliable system from the ground up, and have the technical capability to make adjustments as the need arises.
The first thing I looked at were the features offered.
• Could I manage multiple mailing lists from one control panel?
• Could each campaign handle a very large number of subscribers?
• Could I add my own custom fields to my subscriber forms?
• Could I import existing leads?
• Could I cycle prospects through all my different campaigns?
• Could I use a simple tracking code to see where subscribers came from?
The answer to all of these questions was a large, wonderful yes. Plus, I swiftly found a ton of other features I hadn’t even thought about.
The very next thing I did (always one of the first steps in evaluating mailing list software) was set up an account and test the mailing feature. I subscribed to my own list from various email addresses, including a few that have especially tough anti-spam features imposed by the email service. I was elated to receive mail from my Email Aces campaigns at every single test address.
Another great set of features is the way Email Aces allows a user to customize the subscription/unsubscription process. You can add your own thank you, confirmation, and unsubscribe URLs so your prospects can see any message you feel is appropriate when they sign up, confirm their email, or leave your mailing list.
I can’t recall a single incident of down time over the past year. Sites go down from time to time for a few seconds, but I honestly do not remember one time this has happened with Email Aces since I’ve been a member.
The price is also considerably less than many competing services. I don’t know about you, but twenty bucks a month is a lot to pay for list management as far as I’m concerned. You can get your first month at Email Aces for less than three bucks, and plans start at less than ten bucks for each consecutive month.
This system has earned a whopping thumbs up from me, and from many other people I have discussed it with. Email Aces is a far cut above any of the other services I have tried, including heavily promoted resources like Get Response and Send Free.
