The search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo! that feature PPC platforms have given business owners a cost effective and sustained way for attracting targeted visitors to their websites. Even more exciting, these visitors are often ready to purchase upon clicking a PPC ad to go to a website. By positioning your business in the right way, you’ll send a healthy dose of traffic your way. If your website does a good job of converting visitors into customers, your online business will flourish. While this might sound easy in theory, developing the system is challenging.

This PPC professional article provides you with some ideas for developing a profitable PPC campaign. By making use of these fundamentals, you can get your business started on the road to success. By furthering these basics through working with an experienced pay per click company, you can take your business to the next level.

Examining Your Competition

It is rare for a business to have no competition. With professional PPC marketing, the expertise of your competition will affect the position, cost, and productivity of your ads. When working with a pay per click company, they’ll conduct a competitive analysis of your competition to identify the best PPC keywords and opportunities for your business.

Selecting The Most Profitable Keywords

After examining the campaigns of your competitors, you should select the keywords that will work best for your business. While this may sound easy, it’s actually quite complicated because you must identify the exact keywords being used by your target consumer, separating them into words and phrases that will most likely bring about the desired action. The wrong keywords can be disastrous and costly for your business. A pay per click company will use their expertise and some well thought out tools to choose the most profitable keywords.

Writing Your PPC Ads

Your PPC ads have one purpose, to motivate a click. While anyone performing a search using one of your keywords is a prospect, all prospects are not worth pursuing. Some prospects are more targeted, so your ads should be written in a way that attracts targeted prospects while dissuading any others from clicking on your PPC ad since every click costs you money.

Creating Landing Pages

A good PPC ad will get a targeted prospect to click through to your website, but if your website doesn’t do a good job of converting them into customers, all is lost. To become a true PPC professional, you must create informative and persuasive landing pages. After clicking, prospects must see a website that satisfies a need without disrupting the thought process that made the target click on your ad. An experienced pay per click company knows what it takes to create effective landing pages.

Setting Up A PPC Professional Tracking System

Many new PPC marketers fail to set up a tracking system for tracking their results. You won’t know which keywords, ads, or landing pages are most effective without a tracking system. A failure to track your PPC campaigns will cost you, especially because sometimes only one element is what keeps the entire campaign from being a financial success. A pay per click company will have a tracking system in place that’ll ensure the profitability of your campaigns.

An experienced pay per click company can handle all aspects of your PPC professional campaign. Their experience and guidance in creating an entire PPC marketing campaign can take the burden away while increasing the profits of your business.

What is the most cost effective lead generation? How about free? While the web offers us every single type of prospective business, you now have the choice of investing grand amounts of capital all the way down to starting a business for free. Those that are available for free have received a lot of criticism, but with a little creativity and some determination, you can make it work if you want to.

The truth of the matter is that the less money you spend on lead generation the more effort you need to put into it. But if you’re serious about creating a new and improved income stream for yourself, and you have to begin with tiny to no capital, your sweat will do.

Online forums and online communities are a good place to start. Here, you can always develop a few business relationships, offer some idea trading solutions, and develop the rapport you need in order to offer a good business opportunity to potential customers or associates. Finding the right demographic isn’t as difficult as you might believe. There are forums for businesses in every major world wide web service provider and carrier, as well as plenty of forums that are available through independent servers and developers. Building a positive reputation while you are in there can help bolster your on the internet image and give you a strong grounding for when your business really starts to develop.

Using your wits alone can offer you a distinct advantage. You can begin building a mailing list by offering newsletters, freebies, and special bonuses before you even present your business. For most people who do not have the capital, being able to build a reputation first has often led to an easier transition once the capital starts to accumulate.

Being personable, developing a strong reputation, and offering great and creative ideas and free email bonuses will eventually increase the traffic to your website and even lead to additional marketing venues that others are willing to offer up. In some cases, other individuals will be able to point you to other forums that are prone to be interested in what you have to offer.

Link trading is free. It is a very common technique used among internet marketers that offers you a change for more exposure without spending any money. Link trading involves offering a business a link on your website in exchange for a link on theirs. That way, the traffic that hits your site is exposed to their site and the traffic on their site is exposed to your site. Link trading has been around for quite some time, and you are likely to get a handful of clients or associates through this process over time.

Take up your own article writing. There are ample free submission sites that grant you to submit keyword laden articles that are rich in content and useful information. This is a great way to promote your site and there are several professionals who can teach you on how to drive your traffic from the article to the site. There are numerous methods, but the most common is a backlink, a link within the text that brings people directly to your website.

While there is a lot of effort involved in creating just these three methods of bringing traffic to your site, those who have started with nothing more than sheer determination and a desire to succeed often do when they’ve to work so hard for it. Simply purchasing a few sign ups and paying someone to do your marketing for you might bring in the financial profits earlier. But there is more to internet marketing than financial profits alone. There are emotional and character building profits that can never be spent.

Thanks to the web, there really is no limit to what a person can do if they really want to. Any one who wants to create a full time income from a part time work at home program can do so if they throw their heart into it. It’s just that few ever really do. You have the power to develop an online business if you want to. You have the power to change your financial picture if you want to. It just takes consistent effort.

Everybody wants to know WHAT to write about. What’s it that people want to read? What are the “hot topics” that you know will generate some interest if you write about them.

Even though the Internet has changed the face of the world — how we shop, communicate, do business, research and just about everything else — it hasn’t changed what we WANT. There are classic (and completely TIMELESS) topics that are always going to be hot topics.

Here are ten of them. If you want to know WHAT people want and WHAT you should write about, then find something related to these topics…

1. Making Money. This one is never ever going to go away. You can just go ahead and etch it in stone, it’s here for the long haul. We all want to make money (if for no other reason than to be charitable and give it away to someone else) and some of us (I won’t mention any names :o) are half-crazed for information on how to make money.

If you can show people how to make money (in a legal, moral way, of course) I can assure you, they’ll buy it. I guarantee it.

World wide web marketing / doing business on the web eBooks are some of the hottest information products available anywhere in the world. And for good reason. People want to make more money.

So, show ‘em how to do it.

2. Self Help / Personal Growth. Another classic topic for writing is what has commonly been referred to as “self help” or “personal growth.” People want to improve their lives. Some struggle with addiction and need help in overcoming the struggle. Other people have low self-esteem or feel depressed. Some people do not know how to deal with relationship problems and want to know how to save their marriage. The list could go on and on.

I’ll make you another guarantee: show people how to better their lives and they’ll purchase from you. No question about it.

We all have things about our personalities that we would like changed. Whether we’re shy in public or have a horrible temper or do not know when to keep our mouths shut, there are things we’d like to improve.

And that is an eBook waiting for you to write.

3. Weight Loss / Fitness.

Although obesity and illness are at the highest levels ever, people are working hard to reclaim their health and fit bodies. Gyms are overflowing with sweaty people and stores are selling out of vitamins left and right. Health and fitness is a writing subject that you can never go wrong with.

The point is this: we, as a society, want to be healthier and we struggle with being out of shape.

It’s no wonder that diet and exercise is a multi-billion dollar industry.

Might as well get your piece of the pie.

4. Dating / Relationships. What another great topic for an eBook. There are dozens of ideas you could use for this one that could each become best-sellers…

How to avoid divorce court.
How to make your marriage last forever.
How to be more romantic.
How to pick the perfect mate.
How to get people to notice you.
How to use online match making services.
How to be a great dad / mom.
How to be a great husband / wife.
How to raise great kids.

I mean, we could go on and on and on here. Play the energizer bunny if we want to. There are dozens of ideas for this topic and the information sells like crazy. Why? Because if we have positive, enriching, growing relationships, we’re HAPPIER.

Getting into these niches will really help make sure you are successful in your on the web marketing endeavors.

Internet marketing experts are thriving today as never before; more people are making money on the web than at any time in the 14 years the World Wide Web, and World wide web marketing, has existed. But those considering starting a business on the web might not realize that Internet marketing is still viable during the current world-wide financial meltdown.

The global recession is an accepted fact - right now each major economy in the world is suffering a recession, as defined by two consecutive quarters of negative growth. Worldwide, media outlets scream their headlines of the latest layoffs, foreclosures, bankruptcies, bailouts, devastated retirement savings, repossessions and the like.

On a personal level, each intelligent, caring human hates it - the pain, suffering and stress it generates, and the jump in hunger, homelessness and true poverty that results in more and more instances.

Offline businesses hate it too. In the business-to-business realm, keeping your own business afloat, supporting your share prices and maintaining a positive cashflow are just the start of it - but what about your customers and suppliers? As businesses slash their expenditures, customer lists are shrinking and average order value is plummeting.

And ‘Just-In-Time’ supply systems, the darling of the 80’s and 90’s with it’s reduced inventories, has become a major headache. With no existing inventory to fall back on, corporations are finding it necessary to prop up their suppliers or face a lack of product while they search for new sources.

Business-to-Consumer business is just as bad, if not worse. Millions of jobs have evaporated in the past year alone, taking those salaries with them. Falling home values in the US and UK, for example, have dried up many equity lines of credit, and the general credit squeeze is making it even tougher to ride out the storm on credit. Credit card companies are lowering limits and/or raising the interest rates for those already struggling, exacerbating the situation even more.

And even families with no job losses or income reduction are realizing that savings are at all-time lows while household debt is reaching record heights. So again spending is curtailed in an attempt to pay down debt and rebuild a financial cushion against the unexpected.

Yet Internet marketing and its subsets - affiliate marketing and niche marketing - continue to thrive and even boom during it all. If you’ve been considering getting into Internet marketing but have hesitated because of the recession, it’s time for a major reframe of your viewpoint…

Let’s start with the headspace of people using the World wide web in general. In tough economic times people don’t head out to the mall as often - because the mall is a place to shop and spend money. But the main reason people go online is for information, so that psychological barrier is not there. While they are still willing to spend SOME money, they just aren’t heading out LOOKING to spend it.

Second, no market is expanding, or has ever expanded, at the pace the Internet community is growing this day. Every single day tens or hundreds of thousands of new people come online, and some will be potential buyers for any online business. Even if Internet marketing had reached market saturation, new blood would provide a new potential market each single day.

But the truth is, Internet marketing is nowhere near market saturation - not by a long shot. Think of the number of stores in the offline world. Not in your locale, your city, your state or even your country - but in the WORLD. Obviously, the number dwarfs current Internet marketing ventures. Even the biggest World wide web marketing opt-in e-mail lists have just millions of subscribers out of the billions of Internet users - and most World wide web marketers have lists of less than 50,000.

But even if the market was not growing, sales and profits would still be climbing fast due to higher conversions through new tools and techniques. Like World wide web marketing itself, the World Wide Web is still in it’s infancy - new technologies like audio & video are being developed all over the world. And as older phone company and cable company hardware systems are upgraded, these technologies will advance faster and faster, both in penetration and presentation.

Web 2.0 sites like YouTube, Google Video, FaceBook, MySpace and Squidoo provide easier access to additional users, and services like Technorati, Twitter, MyBlogLog & Pingoat make getting the word out much simpler. And the best of these tools, blogs, have made it simple for anyone to start World wide web marketing.

Free blogging software like WordPress and free blog hosting sites like Blogger and WordPress have eliminated the need to invest financially in your startup - a major boost for people at risk from the recession. Using a blog to promote affiliate marketing opportunities removes all financial risk, something that cannot be done in the offline world.

But what of the recession’s effects vis-a-vis Internet marketing? How can all the financial malfeasance and misfortune be good for World wide web marketing? Let’s look at each of the three main areas - World wide web marketing, Affiliate marketing and Niche marketing…

Mainstream World wide web marketers sell products and services that instruct people how to make money online. In any economic downturn it’s natural for more people to look for ways to increase their income, top up reduced income or replace the income from a lost job. Additionally, the increased workplace stress leads many to take into account getting out from under the tyranny of bosses and the corporate world in general and strike out on their own. Since starting an on the web biz involves the widest opportunity and lowest financial risk, the Internet is the logical choice for a growing number of people.

Affiliate marketing is booming as well - and no wonder! It’s the online specialization that requires the least technical savvy, the least start-up capital and has the shortest income horizon when done properly. What could be superior suited to cash-strapped neophytes who need quicker returns?

But niche marketing is the area of on the web business most apt to derive the greatest benefits from the recession. Consumers who might otherwise head out to exotic restaurants will stay home and create their own meals - and need good recipes to keep up with their accustomed diversity. More people will opt to do their own home repair, meaning they’ll need instructional e-books and videos, and often printed plans as well.

Kids this day will not react well to reduced allowances or fewer new computer games - wise parents will be all over the World wide web looking for new activities to keep their children at bay. And how many backyard mechanics first started working on cars because they couldn’t afford exorbitant mechanic rates? Again, someone needs to explain the practices and procedures to them, especially with today’s highly computerized engines!

And being home more rather than continuing their high-priced nights out will leave people with a hole in their timetable they’ll need to fill - whether they fill it with reading books, watching DVDs, playing computer games, finding a new hobby or learning a new language, new opportunities are presented for niche marketers.

So how will YOU spend the extra time you have on your hands during the recession? Watching TV? Playing Personal Games? Spending more than you can afford to? Or making money on the web and building toward your own independence? Be smart - look into World wide web marketing opportunities this day!

This is a paid research site, where a student or teen can post a question with a bounty, then you can answer and win the bounty.

Do you have a cool hobby? Read a bunch of books on one subject? Maybe you work in your parents’ business. You can earn money from this site. Everybody knows about something.

2. Treasuretrooper.com

Lets you fill out surveys that pay or offer free goodies. In case you think this will not work well, consider this. Companies pay people to try their stuff, to comment on it, and to give the company their opinion. You could be one of those people, getting paid for your thought. Available to teens over 13 can make money with this. Pretty sweet, right?

3. Cashcrate.com

Works similar to #2, but some like it better. Either way, you make money for college. Also available to teens over 13 with parental permission.

4. Squidoo.com

you can build a lens (to focus on a topic) for free, then you can add in affiliate links, adsense and so on to earn some money from it. The key here: think broad, and update often. Hubpages.com has an approach similar to Squidoo, but offers a one-time payment for doing serious work on a page. You have to meet their guidelines, but then you get $25 for building a resource page.

5. Build your own Website

When you do it right, you can build a great website, even if you’ve no programming or web design skills. Seriously, you can make money in a ton of ways, too, like your own list, advertising, and selling your own products. And if you build your own site, you can keep it forever. Be careful what host you pick. Find one with a great block builder and the right formula for success.

6. An extra: be an affiliate.

This works best if you have a site, but you can also use your Myspace or Facebook page. You earn with this by first affiliating with an online seller. They can sell anything, you just need to be their affiliate.

Then, you tell people about it. Careful - you do not want to spam yourself off of Myspace or Twitter. But you can help people find answers and refer them to the company you represent. Just do a little search for affiliate programs on a search engine, you’ll be swamped with good opportunities.

Superior yet, pick a product, and then add affiliate program to it, then search.

My Experience

When I was a teen, I tried painting home numbers on curbs, mowing lawns, and washing automobiles. Here is another idea for you: set up a webpage on your hobby, then sell advertising to Google and Commission Junction or tons of other places.

You can check out the Google Adsense program for more, or hop over to some places like CJ and learn how they work. Pretty cool programs, and I’m earning with them.

Basically, you just write up some good information about your hobby, what you do, some photos, how to do it right. Get it online on a few pages. Then speak about your pages to friends, in your emails, on forums or your favorite social site. No selling yet, just good information.

This will bring some traffic. Do tons of this stuff, without trying to sell anything. When you’ve some traffic, you go to Google’s program and apply to get in. After that, you cut and paste some ads and stuff. When people like the ad, you will get paid a bit. Over time, it adds up and makes a great tiny business.

You can find tons more of these kinds of offers if you look. It only takes effort. Teens make money on the web just like this.

Get started!

The conversion rate for the average website is only three percent. For example, only 3 out of each 100 people who come to your website will buy something. Therefore, you must figure out how to get the other 97 potential customers to buy something to increase your conversion rate.

Generating website traffic isn’t sufficient; you must get your website visitors to make a buy.

Relate to Your Customer

Right from the start, your homepage should start building a relationship with your visitors. Clearly tell them who you are, what you do and what value you can give them.

Think about what you must do to strike up a conversation with your customer. Consider the buying habits of your target customers. What common words are used to find and search on your website?

Consider what you would be looking for on the website if you were the customer. Try to use words that will be familiar to your customer to help improve their buying experience on your website. Provide all the information they need so that doing business with you is the obvious choice.

Build Relationships With Your Customers

Potential customers must be made to realize that you comprehend their problems and that you can help solve them. Adding testimonials to your website is an effective method of accomplishing this. Providing testimonials from other satisfied customers helps others feel that you are trustworthy. Even though you can tell them that your product or service is spectacular, why would they believe you? It is much more effective to have the good words be from someone who has worked with you.

Let another person give the story rather than you telling them how to mend their problems. Any successful website must include testimonials; they are a powerful tool. Not only do testimonials state that you’re capable of doing a job, but they let people know how well you can do it. And the testimonials are more credible than trying to speak about yourself. Allow others to pass your message along.

You website should be filled with testimonials. Don’t err by putting all the testimonials on one page. Very few people actually visit a testimonials page and read all of it. Therefore, a testimonials page is actually a waste of time and energy.

A better idea is to place testimonials strategically throughout your website wherever they might be effective in helping potential customers believe your statements. These testimonials will help you back up your statements and help you build relationships with your potential customers.

Make Finding Information a No-Brainer

The navigation on a website can be the difference between success and failure. Even with outstanding content, readers will leave your site if they can’t find what they are looking for.

Help visitors navigate your website by providing simple, descriptive headings and subheadings. Take care to use keywords in both headings and subheadings for easier indexing by search engines.

Consider the problems that your audience needs to solve and be sure that you provide effective solutions. Keep in mind that people are trying to locate information and solve certain problems.

The simpler it is for them to locate the information they need, the more likely it is that they’ll linger on your website for a while. And the longer they stay on your site, the more likely they’re to make a buy.

Conclusion

In these challenging economic times, it is more important than ever for companies to communicate superior with customers so that website conversion is increased. In order to sell successfully on a website, you must do more than attract people to visit it. In order to increase the conversion rate, try using language that’s easy to understand, use testimonials and make it easy to navigate your website and locate information. Doing these things can help build a relationship with the customer and increase website conversion.

The development of RSS feeds, which symbolizes really easy syndication, is a branch of basic XML file formatting that enables users to receive information on an instantaneous basis. For those who want to know about the chronic updating of any website, an RSS feed is the way to go. The feed is able to detect any minor (or significant) change on any given website and bring that updated information directly to the user. Web syndication brought the use of the RSS feed up to speed and brought it into the hands of the average user.

The RSS feed requires assistance in converting code into text, which can be done through an aggregator, commonly called a feed reader. This is a simple download available for no charge from a vast array of websites. These downloads require nothing more than the speed and OS necessary to support the feed and the reader.

What’s the value of an RSS feed? Websites that are often updated or that carry a high number of subscribers can alert their entire database of changes or news without having to bother with email communications. It is like having a direct link to the internet designers. Having this information can do a multitude of things for a business. Imaging the response for any website expecting to carry a Playstation 3. You had thousands of hungry gamers awaiting the release of the new gaming system and one single RSS feed that was ready to output the information as soon as the information was entered into computer’s database.

At this point, the gamers flooded the site trying to order their Playstation 3. Any website that offers special deals, that offers news and information, or who values home entertainment above all else, RSS feeds have broadened the scope of their internet based clientele and their business ventures have taken off in new ways.

RSS feeds are no longer limited to the desktop or the laptop. You can now program and RSS feed to bring the exact same information directly to a cell phone or a PDA. This is one of the most effective methods of eliminating spam and unwanted email communications. Feeds that offer the information that is relevant to your life can be big time savers. When you carry a few specific RSS feeds that give you the most vital information to you and your life, it becomes simple to get the information you need without the need for dearch engines, long winded searches, and unwanted results.

Most RSS feeds are developed with the consumer in mind. Whether it’s news or special interest, an RSS feeds is a great asset to small world wide web companies. It allows the client base to gather information directly from their website and helps the smallest of the companies stay connected to their loyal following, even if it is only a few people. Updating websites, even the small ones, takes some effort. Alerting everyone to the new information can be time consuming. RSS feeds save consumers time and money while saving business proprietors time and money.

RSS feed directories can help consumers connect with small business owners and maintain the same connection that the small e-business is developing with their basic client list. In many cases, RSS feeds listed on the directories are highly effective helping smaller e-commerce entrepreneurs achieve a higher standard within their own business community. By being listed, even if they’re selling something little and seemingly worthless, are able to bring together those who are interested in purchasing with the company that’s offering the sale of the item. It works for so many companies that it has been deemed the super mall of the future.

Through such directories such as Feedster, consumers can also gain access to the company’s blog site and also get involved in community based projects sponsored by the company. With an RSS feed revolution on the doorstep of our technologically based society, it will not be long before they become totally necessary for businesses without the need for chronic email communications. RSS feeds might very well be the key to future record breaking sales for might companies.

Email marketing can be an effective on the web marketing technique if you go about it correctly, and avoid all possibility of spamming. In fact, a current study conducted by the DMA or Direct Marketing Association shows that in 2008 alone, the ROI of Emails amounted to $45.06 for every dollar spent. That is a huge figure considering it is so easy to do.

However, you can only do this if you know how to get that email into the Inbox of your potential clients instead of getting it into their spam or junk folder. So, how can you achieve that and attain these high levels of income? Here are some of the things that can be done to improve the likelihood of your email marketing campaigns being as successful as possible.

1. Avoid Long Words
Avoid fancy titles and long words in your email. Many people often make such elementary errors such as using words like “breakthrough”, “phenomenon”, etc. Spam filters will immediately think your email is spam if you use such words. Unless you’ve really developed a product that is a true breakthrough, then steer clear of this type of language. Make your email easy, straight-forward and yet convincing.

2. Keep Clear of Cash
Avoid mentioning about cash in your email. Any excessive discussion about money will nearly certainly result in the bulk of your mailing ending up in spam folder - and not many people bother to check their spam folder. However, this could be a problem if your topic is all about money, and in such cases you should figure out a way of presenting the topic discreetly, or of at least getting your email into the Inbox and opened. You know those “get rich” type of emails? Those are mostly sent to the spam folder, so make sure you avoid any word or phrase that could be construed in that way.

3. Mortgage Brokers have a Problem
If you are in the mortgage business you are going to have problems, because mortgage brokers have abused the email system so much in current years that the word is synonymous with spamming. You may be a legitimate mortgage company but spam filters will frequently block mortgage pitches whether they’re real or scam. If you want to use email marketing for your mortgage business, make sure you make your email subtle, such as subtly directing to people to your website for more information.

4. Don’t be too Urgent
Avoid the word “important” in your email. You have probably heard or read spam emails saying that “it’s urgent” and “do not miss the opportunity of a lifetime”. However, most spam filters are set to trap that kind of language. Never use the word “urgent”, even if it relevant to what you have to state. Spam filters don’t analyze your email for its meaning as search engine algorithms do, but simply look for certain words that have been pre-programmed into the software.

5. No Guarantees or Money Back
You should also avoid a few more phrases in email marketing, such as “money-back guarantee”, or the “check is in the mail”, because so many scam emails using the same phrases are being sent each day, and nobody will believe you anyway. Email marketing involves a high level of avoidance of certain words and phrases.

6. Offer Nothing Free!
Other terms to avoid include phrases such as “why pay more”, anything with Free” in it, and the dollar or pound sign is a definite no-no. Try to phrase your title, and the rest of your email, in such a way as not to focus on the financial benefits or gains, and not to use specifically emotive words or superlatives. Hence, the exclamation mark is a certain way to get your email directed to the spam folder.

7. KEEP UPPER CASE TO a Minimum
Email marketing is completely different from most other forms of marketing. Keep clear of hype and minimize upper case letters. You can Capitalize the First Letter of Each Main Word in your Subject Line where appropriate, but no more than that.

8. Use Opt-in Forms and First Names
In order to get your emails read, try using the first name of the person you’re mailing. You can avoid being accused of spamming (but not the spam software) by using a double opt-in system with your opt-in forms if you’re using them. By doing that you’ll also collect the first name of your prospects, and your autoresponder can then use that in the subject line. Using a person’s name is a powerful way of attracting their attention and getting your mail opened.

9. Avoid Images
Avoid images in your emails, because these can take an age to load, and after doing all the hard work and getting your email delivered and opened, you don’t want it shut again just as quickly. HTML images are frequently split into pieces to help them load quicker and if you don’t get your HTML right, a spam filter will often redirect your mail to where you don’t want it to go.

10 Offer Text
HTML might seem great to you, and look very attractive in your email system, using your browse and screen resolution. However, it can look totally different on somebody else’s personal, so never use HTML unless you also offer your mailing in an alternative text format. Many people, even some of the top on the internet marketers, use only text, both in their own email marketing campaigns, and to receive mail.

If you apply these 10 tips, you will have a better chance of getting your email past the spam filters, and also having it opened. After that it is up to you, but you must grab the reader’s attention immediately they open your mail, and keep them reading. However, that is another topic.

A lot of newcomers to Internet marketing (known as “newbies”) believe that it’s easy to make money. Well, I am sorry to burst your bubble, but it definitely is NOT easy! The good news is…it can be done! Many people make a good living working on the World wide web. You will see lots of ads, and websites from the big-time gurus telling you how easy it is to earn thousands of dollars. Do not believe those scams. Sure, they are making money. But, they are making money off the newbies who read a great sales letter and believe everything it says. It’s like the old saying, “If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.”

There are some things you need to take into account.

1. Believe in yourself. The first thing is that you’ve to believe that you can do it! Sometimes, when we run into one road block after another, we just give up. That is no way to succeed. To become profitable working on the World wide web, you’ve to have perseverance. Don’t quit at the first hurdle. Work your way through it. Ask how to do what you need to do on Google.com. You will come up with all kinds of answers…most of them exactly what you need.

2. Begin small. If your first project is too complicated, you’ll be more likely not to follow through. Once you get the first project, your first website business, making money for you, then start your next project. Working on the Internet isn’t just about working on one website…it’s adding more to your on the web portfolio. Make sure the current project is profitable before starting on the next. Too many newbies have dozens of websites without knowing what to do to make them profitable.

3. You need to have a plan. Decide on your website topic. What are your interests or your hobbies? What are you good at? Everyone is good at something. If you build a website, and a business around what you enjoy, it will be easier for you to work through the down-times. And, since you have the knowledge, writing website content and articles will be much easier. Write down everything you think needs to be done to reach your objective. Put each item into a logical order and create a task list for the project.

4. You have to have the capability to focus. When you start a task, follow through until it’s absolutely completed. Then, go on to the next task, then the next. Keep your focus until you have completed every single task.

5. Keep Learning! Learn about all of the different aspects of Internet marketing. I know there are many, and a LOT to learn, but do not ever stop learning as much as you can. That doesn’t mean you’ve to buy every guru’s ebook, or “system” out there. You can find all kinds of information - the same information you would purchase from the so-called experts - free on the internet. Just use my good buddy, Google Search.

6. Develop your own system. Use the plan and tasks that you started out with and use the education that you get from your web searches. If you do purchase a “ready-made” system, follow it exactly. Don’t jump from one, to the next, to the next. Give the system a chance before jumping onto a “better” one.

7. Take Action! This is one of the most important things you can do. You can learn AND do! Don’t get stuck in the education phase and forget to take the actions needed to get to your goal…being profitable.

No project worth doing comes without effort. You will need to work, and work hard. You’ll need to persist with your marketing and you’ll need to keep your focus. If you believe you can succeed, you can succeed!

Alex Mandossian is the first person I ever heard speak of the concept of “Product Consumption.” And he is dead on target. If you cannot get your customers to even consume your product, then your chance for refunds increase significantly, and the chance that that customer will buy more products from you decreases significantly.

With that said…

Picture this. You’ve created a fantastic new information product in your niche. You’ve invested hundreds of hours of sweat into developing your “big box” package that consists of 12 CDs, 5 DVDs, and a 400-page manual in a three-ring binder. You are very proud, and rightly so, of your product. It’s one impressive course.

Now, picture this. Your course arrives at the door of your customer in a clean white 14″ x 14″ x 10″ box. Your customer eagerly tears into the box and begins unpacking the huge manual and all the CDs and DVDs that make up the course. They’re thinking, “Wow, this is great. But where do I start.” There’s so much great information in the product they simply don’t know where to begin. So they toss the items back in the box with the thought that they’ll figure it out later when they’ve a few more minutes.

But those few minutes never seem to arrive. Then they realize that they are coming up on the 30-day refund window, so they haul the box down to the post office and ship it back for a refund. This is a scenario that is all too familiar to those who have been in the information marketing business for a while.

What can you do to help minimize the instances of this unpleasant scenario? The key is that you need to help your customers to consume your information. You need to tell them step by step how to go through your course in a logical manner to get the maximum value from it. Do not leave it up to them to figure out.

You need to create some type of “Read This First” document or “Getting Started” guide that’ll quickly get them into your course to start the “consumption” process. I’ve seen this “Read This First” document done in both written format (a letter or booklet) or as a PDF file burned onto a disc. My recommendation is a printed document that’ll be the first thing they see when they open your box.

Let’s face it; if you cannot get people started on your course, then they have the ability to’t finish it. This means the likelihood of them purchasing additional information products from you is significantly reduced. When you get them started swiftly into your course, your refund rate will also be reduced. This means more money stays in YOUR pocket.

A “Read This First” or “Getting Started” document is an important part of a successful course. Be sure to include one with your next information product.

Similar in concept to the mistake of not including a “Read This First” or “Getting Started” document is not using follow-up autoresponders to help your customers consume your product.

Avoiding this mistake is essentially the application of online tools in the form of autoresponders to help your customers continue to move through your product in a positive manner. Where the “Read This First” can help get them out of the gate, the autoresponder is your best ally to keep them moving forward after that first day.

It’s that friendly tiny nudge after they have received your product that’ll help the sale “stick” and is designed to provide that helpful reminder of how to ideal consume your course for maximum benefit. It’s important to get people started swiftly and keep their momentum going. So it’s fairly common to have daily autoresponder messages for the first week to ten days after the product purchase.

Product consumption is what it’s all about. It’s your job to provide your customers the utensils they need to help them to consume your information product.
